An excellent place to stay; the owner was friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, the cottage was lovely, in a great farmland setting. It felt like a million miles from anywhere, with the animals around (chasing a turkey out of the garden was an experience!), very relaxing. We'd definitely recommend this holiday. Unlike other cottages, the kitchen was suitable for cooking proper meals (with a good size, good appliances and all the equipment you'd need), so you didn't feel that it was necessary to eat out all the time. A great place to go. In countryside yet near shops, pubs etc. Great for animal lovers. Mrs T, ENFIELD, Middlesex 17 September 2009
The owner is fantastic and will help in any which way or form. Brightlingsea is a fantastic place to spend a few days too. Can't recommend it highly enough, great for kids especially - they can see hens, horses, pigs & sheep and the owner will introduce them to the animals too. Mrs M, Hullbridge 03 September 2009
We had a really pleasant week (our second time there) and would highly recommend Folkards Barn for someone who is after peace and quiet.(Note here that the horse stables are nearby and so are the chickens, meaning you may get woken early if you are a light sleeper) All in all this will be part of the experience on the barn/farm adding the special flair of the countryside.) Folkards Barn is fabulous top quality accomodation. The owner is a lovely genuine person. The location is great - we went with our 2 boys (10 and 6) and enjoyed the great beaches and amusements nearby at Walton and Clacton. There is a great selection of attractions that we did not get to visit in nearby Colchester. We would love to return for a much longer stay to really benefit from the relaxing environment that Folkards Barn provides. Mrs S, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY 02 August 2009
There are lots of places to visit - Colchester, Clacton, Walton, Dedham and of course Brightlingsea itself with its beach. Just to be at the house is very quiet and relaxing. Mr B, COLCHESTER 07 June 2009
A comfortable and welcoming cottage in an ideal location to explore eastern Essex and Constable Country. Mr M, STANMORE 06 June 2009
The sounds of the hens, pigs, sheep and horses made it like living on your own farm. Mrs T, Huddersfield 27 September 2008
